The Brent Loseke Colt Company, Inc.

Training, breeding, marketing and managing some of the best horses in the industry.

Brent was born and raised in Nebraska, where the family owned a farm. Brent started riding when he was six years old and bought his first horse at the age of eleven. The headstall that came with that first horse is still in the Loseke home as decoration.

When he was just a teenager, he knew he wanted to ride horses forever. For three summers while he was in high school he worked at the famous Pitzer Ranch, home of Two Eyed Jack, a horse which still holds the record for siring the most AQHA champions.

After a year of college Brent started an internship with his first mentor, Mark Chestnut. For the next several years he continued to gain knowledge and experience from several great horsemen and women, including cutting horse trainer Bronc Willoughby, (whose father Jim was the author of “A General” from the NRHA rule book.)

Brent spent five years working for Carol Rose, where he had the honor of riding many great horses, the most famous of which was Shining Spark, who he started and rode for most of his two year old year. He also spent a year in Brazil riding cutting horses.

It was while there that he met his wife of 27 years, Paula. After that is was five years at Babcock Ranch, where he started many of the first Smart Chic Olena offspring, including Chic Please, who was out of one of Brent’s mares.

Next stop on the journey for Brent and Paula was the purchase of 78 acres in Gainesville, Texas, and in 1997 The Brent Loseke Colt Company. Inc., was founded. After six great years there Brent and Company saw a new opportunity when one of his customers, Wallis Winegar, bought the majestic Green Valley Ranch in Aubrey, Texas.

The Losekes sold their ranch and moved their whole operation to Green Valley, where they ended up spending five years. Although the time at Green Valley was amazing, after years of being involved with big programs and lots of horses, Brent really wanted to downsize his program to the point where he could personally have a lot time on every horse, with the help of one good assistant.

Now the Losekes own 45 beautiful acres in Valley View, TX with a great facility.  The property used to be owned by reining horse legend, Bill Horn.  In addition to training, Brent is also doing a limited amount of broodmare management on the new property.
